Fever Signs and How to Tell if Your Child in real sense has Fever
A child will always be taken in for medical care for the reasons for catching a fever. We do not find this not a surprise anyway. Fevers are quite common in children and as well frightening to child and parent alike. This article is particularly concerned with giving some questions and answers to the same in order to help parents handle the panic that often sets in when a child is caught in fever.
The first question we may find resourceful for answering is a definition of what fever is in real sense. Generally, a fever is defined as a body temperature that is higher than normal. Body temperature is taken using a thermometer. In as much they are good at helping the child fight certain kinds of infections, when they get beyond the normal fevers can start to get you worrying and uncomfortable more so when you consider how old the child happens to be.
You may be asking yourself the question of how do you know your son or daughter has caught fever. Depending on age, a child with fever will show certain changes in their body and will feel hot. With the newborn child, the first sign after an attack following the rise in temperature, will be the refusal to feed, either by breast or bottle and will as well be a lot more sleepy and fussy than is their usual case. The older babies and the toddlers, note the signs in increased crankiness and being less energetic and interested in so many things as is the norm. The toddler will as well be thirsting a lot and will have a lowered appetite. Irritability and feeling withdrawn out of lack of interest in most of their activities is yet another sign of fever in the toddlers and the older babies. The other sign of fever in children is extreme sleepiness or trouble getting to sleep. The children over the age of two years will tell the signs of fever in symptoms such as their complaints of chills and or pains all over the body, asking for a lot of fluids, and when they become whiny and highly irritable. If you happen to note any of these signs in your child, then it is time to take their body temperature.
